Alejandro Acosta is an accomplished trial lawyer with over 10 years of experience representing clients seeking to recover damages in significant personal injury and wrongful death cases. Alejandro has tried over a dozen personal injury cases to verdict in the states of Texas and New Mexico. Additionally, he has successfully tried multiple personal injury cases in arbitration and argued personal injury matters in front of the 8th Court of Appeals in El Paso and the New Mexico Court of Appeals in Santa Fe. Due to his passionate representation and diligence, Alejandro has been able to recover significant amounts for his clients, including verdicts and settlements above seven figures. He is a co-founder of Tawney, Acosta & Chaparro P.C.

Alejandro is recognized nationally as one of the top plaintiff and trial lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association. He is a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a prestigious group of trial lawyers limited to those attorneys who have won million-dollar verdicts or settlements. In 2020, Alejandro was honored nationally by the Lawyers of Distinction following a rigorous selection process. Since 2018, he has been continually recognized by Texas Super Lawyers as a Rising Star. Alejandro is a local leader of the plaintiff’s trial bar, serving as President of the El Paso Trial Lawyers Association in 2018. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Advocates Board of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. Alejandro is a member of the American Association of Justice (AAJ) and actively participates in multiple litigation sections. He is a member of the AAJ Minority Caucus. 

Alejandro is a member of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and the Federal Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. The Foundation’s members are nominated because of their dedication to the administration of justice and high professional standing among their peers. 

Alejandro began his legal career as a research attorney at the Court of Appeals for the Honorable Chief Justice Ann McClure. He spent two years at the Court of Appeals before becoming an associate at a personal injury law firm. In 2016, Alejandro and his partners opened up their own law firm in Texas and New Mexico to better serve the personal injury needs of those communities.

Some of Alejandro’s prior successes include an appearance in the June 2013 edition of Verdict Search in Texas for his role in obtaining a large verdict for the plaintiff in a premises liability claim. Also in 2013, he was published in the State Bar Litigation Section Report: "The Advocate" on Arbitration. In 2014, he tried a wrongful death trucking case in El Paso County that resulted in a multiple seven-figure verdict for the plaintiffs.

Alejandro is a lifelong resident of El Paso. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 2000 and graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio in 2004. Alejandro went on to attend Sandra Day O’ Connor College of Law (Arizona State Law School). He graduated in 2008, receiving his J.D. and his Indian Legal Certificate for his work in Indian law and dealings with various tribal nations throughout Arizona. He was admitted and licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in 2008 and in the State of New Mexico in 2011. Alejandro is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, District of New Mexico and Western District of Texas.

Above all, Alejandro prides himself on representing individuals in times of need. Following in the footsteps of his parents and grandparents, Alejandro’s passion is to provide a voice to those members of the community needing assistance. He was recently selected to the Project Amistad Board of Directors. Project Amistad, a not-for-profit agency established by Alejandro’s grandmother, Lucy G. Acosta, provides services to elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and persons at risk. 

His continuing success as a trial lawyer aside, he is most proud of his marriage to his loving wife, Jessica. Jessica is a director at a local hospital in El Paso. The Acosta’s strive for a healthy work-life balance and crave an epicurean lifestyle. They are blessed to have four healthy fur-babies and are expecting their first child in the Fall of 2020.
