two-vehicle-crash-ricardo-texasRicardo, Texas — A Monday morning accident involving a TXDOT truck has left eight people injured, one of which is in critical condition.

According to a DPS spokesperson, a family of seven was traveling back home to Houston on U.S. Highway 77 when they crashed into a TXDOT Scorpion truck that was flashing information along the freeway.

All members of the accident sustained injuries. Northbound U.S. Highway 77 shut down for several hours as first responders transported the injured to Shoreline Hospital.

At this time, the driver of the TXDOT truck is said to make a full recovery. The driver of the second vehicle is facing charges for not moving over for the truck.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
