According to the Texas Department of Safety, a 23-year-old man suffered fatal injuries after crashing into the rear of a flatbed trailer while driving westbound on I-10. Eric Gomez’s fatal crash in El Paso happened around 7 p.m. on October 11, 2022, near mile marker 116 in Hudspeth County near Fort Hancock.

Details on Eric Gomez’s Car Accident in El Paso

Gomez was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado in the right lane of I-10. Dennis Tapia was driving the flatbed truck, which was stationary at the time of the collision. The Peterbilt truck and tractor were on the improved shoulder, waiting for roadside assistance.

The accident occurred when Gomez failed to stay in a single lane, veering off onto the improved shoulder. The vehicle hit the rear of the flatbed, coming to rest upright and inoperable. Gomez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Tapia did not suffer any injuries in the collision.

The Texas Department of Safety is investigating the crash, and no other details have been released yet. An accident like this can happen in several different ways.
